The Soul Savvy logo features the Columbine flower—a delicate, three-toned blossom that speaks to both the breathtaking wonder and the profound challenges of life on Earth. As the emblem of our work, it embodies the exhilaration of growth and the trials of healing, reminding us that transformation requires embracing both light and shadow.
The Beauty of the Columbine
In 2004, I (Denise Barnes, founder) launched the Soul Savvy website. From the moment I discovered the Columbine wildflower, its periwinkle blue, gold, and white petals captivated me. These hues became the foundation of our brand identity. The flower’s gentle, forward-leaning angle conjures the image of a spaceship lifting off—symbolic of ascension, movement, and our cosmic origins. As Joni Mitchell so eloquently sings: “We are stardust, we are golden.” The Columbine is a daily reminder of our roots among the stars and the limitless potential within us.

The Dark Legacy of “Columbine”
Yet with its natural beauty comes an unavoidable shadow: the Columbine High School tragedy on April 20, 1999. Just a half-hour from where I worked at the time, this devastating event claimed the lives of 14 people (students and one teacher) and injured 23 more before the two perpetrators took their own lives. Decades later, another victim succumbed to complications from the attack in early 2025. The motives—rooted in bullying, social isolation, and mental health struggles—remind us of the profound pain that can underlie the human experience.
By holding both aspects—the bloom and the burden—the Columbine logo encapsulates the full spectrum of the human condition. This duality lies at the heart of our mission: to face our darkest wounds and emerge transformed.
Healing the Darkness to Empower Open-Hearted Purpose
At Soul Savvy, we create a sacred space for healing and evolution. Together, we blend courageous coping strategies from mental health with the insightful structure of coaching and the depth of intuitive healing. We honor the stories that shape us—whether from this lifetime or beyond—so we can transcend limitations and step into our radiant purpose.
Like the Columbine’s fragile-looking stems that return year after year despite freezes and droughts, our resilience and creativity can flourish when nurtured with support. This work is essential for anyone ready to break free from fear, overwhelm, and the inner critics that stifle the true self and what it’s really here on Earth for.
Embracing Your Soul’s Call
Are you ready to stop bypassing your deepest yearnings? It’s time to confront the growing pains of transformation and fully bloom into your life’s work. We grow not merely for egoic gain (security, status) but for a higher purpose (making a difference, serving human evolution). Beyond the “birth canal” of change awaits a sense of peace, joy, and the profound satisfaction of living—and eventually leaving—the world without regrets.
When you choose this path, you not only live in alignment with your soul but also inspire others to do the same. Here is a favorite quote from Javan Kerby Bernakevitch of All Points Design.
“The purpose of life is to find your gifts, the meaning of life is to give them in service to others.”
Wishing you a radiant, grounded summer.
