After decades using the Transactional Model of Stress and Coping, I wrote a book about it. This model was proven to reduce anxiety and depression by 50% in clinical trials (badass research). Our psych team counseled cancer patients exiting treatment to enhance their recovery. This model works. People get better, as fast as they choose to use the 5 tools.
I wrote the book for therapists to walk their talk, and avoid burning out. It’s relevant for coaches, nurses, community health workers, and other helping professionals to use with the people they work with, who wish to change and grow. And, it’s useful for anyone who wants to not only lower stress levels, but have an elegant system and emo intel (emotional intelligence) toolkit to manage life’s ups and downs.
I use this framework to this day to stay sharp and on track with what’s important.
Clients say things like, I’ve come a long way, I want to thank you for that. The tools are realistic, I can do this. I’m not religious, but I feel like the universe put you in my life, I’m so grateful. I’ve gone from lost, to more stable with myself. Fantastically helpful to me, I don’t feel like a big ball of stress anymore. I have options.
You can grab the book which has 12 client examples and 14 worksheets. Or to sample it, try this free video and print series that leads you through the steps in the Stress to Strength book. (This is a precursor to the book – a bit homemade lol, but the wisdom’s there.)
This simple Stress to Strength toolbox contains the mental health tools you need to keep moving toward what’s most meaningful in your life. It will limit the crash and burn cycles that negative thoughts and moods can cause.
Here is the book – kindle and paperback versions are available.

– 11 minutes long, with a song at the end !
Silly me… I do an Al Yankovitch.
A serious photo though… I was trying to stay on top of what I’d memorized for the 11 mn eternity 🤓😂

I love the Stress to Strength model!
