GETTING TO YOUR DEEPEST, TRUEST WORK
Soul savvy people I work with often have day jobs, and/or creative and healing interests on the side of their small businesses. (Me too and it all seems important.) Time limits can cause some creative and heartful projects to take a while. Especially when they’re not the main breadwinners. Especially also, during stressful times.
It’s easy to get discouraged with long birth processes. And if you are an empath or sensitive, it can feel risky to stretch yourself and step out there with your truer, deeper expression.
It is normal, even for the 75 – 80% of the non-sensitives, to get a bit intimidated by stepping into the real stuff you’re here to do. It can happen that you give up, or stall endlessly. You can tweak and tweak and start again. This is multi-layered challenge, and it likely has ancestral history and trauma behind it, this deep work, this work that matters.
JUST KEEP PLODDING
I want to encourage you – don’t give up. Not so fast with the derail refrain. The reasons for expressing your soul’s work go beyond the desire for fame, for fortune. Completing this work goes beyond even personal satisfaction. Like many soul savvy projects, these works offer healing for the past and the future.
You chose this rather hairy time to be here. You have a contribution to make whether it’s rocket science to help climate change, or a song that helps remind others of the big picture. Or a joke – anyone, to lighten things up?
Here is an example of what I’m sayin’ – a truly inspiring song that talks about the deeper purpose of this now. (Thanks Bob.)
7 reasons why you shouldn’t give up on soul projects
1) Soul work is about more than meet’s the eye, more than what’s on the surface. No need to get derailed by the details or take them too seriously (Note: Soften your perfectionist tendencies),
2) Though at times challenging and frustrating, you know it feels right to keep plodding along, no matter how slow and painstaking the pace (Yo turtle, teach me some’in).
3) Doing your soul work – facing what’s real under life’s surface appearances – aids your evolution. I don’t care how old you are, completing this will matter, at any age or work status (Write the poem!).
4) It’s not all about you. Doing this work helps both your ancestors’ and the next generations’ healing (Hi Aunt Hannah! I’m singing for you and your aunts.).
5) Progress here clears soul stagnancy and often leads to exciting new learning, projects and collaborations. (Excuse me, is that an original song?)
6) Following soul creative impulses are good for your health. Fun? Destressing? Yes. This gives your body mind and heart healthy hormones, helpful mental muscle strength, and joy. (Weight lifting? The best kind.)
7) Your soul family beyond the veil are going to give you shite after death if you give in to fear and avoidance. (Yeah, ya need some passive coping, but lean into soul work sprees too. )
This is the time friends. Feel it? The time you consciously chose to show up. Use it as well as you can, while the castles around are crumbling. Surface appearances there too.
My SLOW-slow-slow CD birth
My own slow-cooked soul creative project recently was a music cd I started recording some 8 years ago. I was just about to publish it and had that HSP feeling – this isn’t any good/good enough. The Persian flaw loomed large. No, it’s not perfect. So I shelved it, and it ended up out of sight out of mind. Life happened including the usual losses and tragedies, as well as the work life. I keep busy.
Then I went to clear up the project plate – getting it more realistic in that time management skill building. I am no master there. The CD was still on the list. When I tried to retire it, I couldn’t let it go. It didn’t want to retire.
It’s taken another year almost to complete it, to go official with licensing of 2 cover songs, to get my own 5 songs licensed. But as soon as I realized it needed to be completed, the universe stepped in to help. Even though it’s still a slow waltz, alongside the other work.
This project isn’t even about the CD doing something or other. It’s about me moving along with music and writing more songs. That was the intuition about it. Now I’ve also gained knowledge of what it would take to really publish a CD and all the details involved. It’s good work.
And getting this done also makes room for a creative writing project that’s now on my mind. Ya keep moving.
It’s a tangled web sometimes, that soul creatives weave. But it’s real and true. You know when you’re back on the path. Small steps reverse depression and bad-smelling inertia, in short order.
It’s about living more fully. And dying in peace and laughter. Go in peace, die in peace, lol. Live in the real.
Blessings on your soul creative path, whatever your pace.
