Healing through Adversity – The Soul Work of Health Recovery

The Soul Savvy perspective posits that each person has unique reasons for their growth edges and challenges, partly related to their soul blueprint – the map of what they’re here to learn in this life. This applies to cancer (an area I worked in for 19 years) or any life/health challenge.  This can be an opportunity to heal and grow, make amends, and clarify important next steps and actions.

Sometimes it’s time to change habits as more of a preventative measure. Handle a sugar addiction before a diabetes diagnosis. Quit smoking before cancer strikes. Lose weight before heart challenges hit. The good news is, it’s never too late. Getting healthier eventually helps you feel better, though it can hurt at first.

The Soul Savvy approach to supporting your health changes is a good fit if:

  • You are open and curious about your soul’s journey with health challenges
  • You are willing to consider that this life is not all there is to our full existence
  • You wish to forgive and makes amends to yourself and others
  • You can see this challenge’s impact, but suspect it could hold gifts as well
  • You wish to make the most of this opportunity as quickly as possible

Denise professionally supported cancer patients and their loved ones from 1995 -2014, with medical info navigation, as well as emotional support and stress management. That was as a therapist and supervisor at the University of Colorado Cancer Center in Aurora, CO. Currently she is a Wellness Counselor (official job title: Psychosocial and Behavioral Counselor) working with Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab patients at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Westminster, CO. Here she works part-time to support people with COPD or after a heart attack, to change habits and make the most of their health recovery efforts.

Health challenges are no walk in the park, and it’s important to find a therapist you resonate with. I offer a free consult to explore working together. Please contact me, and let me know good times in the coming week that you can meet for a half hour. I will answer any questions you might have, and will have a few for you about what you are needing.

BOULDER OFFICE OR BY PHONE:
I work with people in person (downtown Boulder, CO office), or over the phone/Skype.

At this time I do not accept insurance, but I can provide you with a bill to submit to insurance.

Here is a quote from a person who consulted with me for one session:

“You’ve made a real difference. You knew what I needed more than I knew what I needed – I’ve been wandering around in a daze. Thanks for bringing life to my death”. M.L., Seattle WA
